GATHERING SPACES

URBAN GREEN SPACE DESIGN IS AT A TURNING POINT, BOTH IN CHICAGO AND NATIONALLY.

A confluence of issues has deepened the significance and need for ecologically healthy green spaces in cities.

Climate change, the challenges of COVID-19, and a renewed interest in transforming historically segregated and divested neighborhoods means the time is now to support culturally meaningful artistic gathering spaces in natural, outdoor settings.

This straightforward but thorough guide is for practitioners — community-based organizations, elected officials, block clubs, garden groups, artists, government agencies, and funders, among others — looking to create innovative green space design in urban settings.
